What else we saw at Carter Center

At the Carter Center Museum, we saw this striking painting. A gift to President Carter from President Jose Lopez Portillo of Mexico in 1979. The painting is an example of Ocampo’s “metaphoric style” and artwork is made up of national symbols and personal images that hold a strong meaning. For example his arm resting is composed of drawings of his father’s shop and his face is made up of individual states’ flags.
